Guillemot Cove February 28

Yesterday my wife and I took a short hike in the Guillemot Cove Nature Reserve near Seabeck, WA. We started at the trail head around 11am.

Downed tree across trail.

After about a 1 mile hike down to the cove we saw water across the Beach House Trail.

Crossing the bridge we discovered the reason. The beavers have been busy.
Beaver dam across Boyce Creek.

After wading through more muddy water across the trail we arrived at the beach and took in the view.

on the trees in the foothills.

We hiked back up to the car on the access road and arrived about 1pm. There are a few other trails to explore here but I had to work later in the afternoon. We'll be back later in the season to explore when the winter brown changes to spring green.
